Angela Drake

Professor Angela Drake practiced law for more than 25 years in the areas of complex and class action litigation and insurance coverage and defense. She was a shareholder in the firm of Niewald, Waldeck and Brown in Kansas City for 18 years and later a member of Lowther Johnson, LLC, in Springfield, Missouri. Throughout her legal career, Professor Drake represented both individual and corporate clients in jury trials, bench trials, and appellate proceedings in state and federal courts.

She received her bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1982 and her JD from the University of Minnesota in 1985.

In 2014, Professor Drake founded the Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic and served as its Director until her retirement. Under her leadership, the Clinic grew into a nationally recognized program providing legal assistance to veterans and their families in pursuit of VA disability benefits and discharge upgrades. Though she no longer works at the Clinic, her vision and dedication continue to shape its mission and impact. Prior to her retirement, she also taught courses in Insurance Law, Pretrial Litigation, and Trial Practice at the University of Missouri School of Law.
