Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic Conducts Training for BCLP & Citi in St. Louis

The Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic hosted a free training session last week for attorneys and staff from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) and Citi in St. Louis. This training is part of the Clinic’s ongoing mission to educate attorneys, paralegals and the Missouri community on vital veterans’ issues, including discharge upgrades and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability compensation claims.

Under the banner of its outreach initiative, ‘Tigers for Troops,’ the Clinic offers free training sessions to equip attorneys, paralegals and the public with the knowledge and tools to assist veterans effectively. The goal is to empower legal professionals and advocates to independently support veterans in securing the benefits they deserve. Clinic Director Brent Filbert expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to engage with BCLP and Citi.

“We are always eager to provide training to organizations committed to helping veterans,” Filbert said. “Our goal is to be a resource for firms and groups in Missouri who want to make a difference for those who have served our country. These training sessions also help us raise awareness about the valuable services our Clinic provides. BCLP and Citi reached out to us with a genuine desire to contribute to the state’s mission of supporting veterans. It was a fantastic event, and we appreciated their enthusiasm and commitment to veteran advocacy both in Missouri and beyond.”

The Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic represents veterans and their families – free of charge – with their VA disability compensation benefits and DoD discharge upgrades. Since its inception the Clinic has secured more than $16,000,000 in federal disability compensation for its deserving clients and has secured numerous discharge upgrades. The Clinic is funded largely by private donations.
