Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic Welcomes New Staff Attorney Katie Becker

Columbia, MO — The Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic is pleased to announce that Katie M. Becker has joined the Clinic as its newest staff attorney. In this role, Becker will supervise students and manage an active caseload assisting veterans and their dependents in securing the benefits they earned from their service to our country. Her work will involve the representation of veterans and their dependents before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs,the Department of Defense, and several federal courts. 

Becker brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to veterans’ advocacy to the Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic. She previously served as the staff attorney for the University of Georgia School of Law Veterans Legal Clinic. Before that, she worked as an associate appellate attorney with Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick in Providence, RI, a prominent veterans’ law firm.  

Becker’s dedication to serving veterans began early in her legal career. As a distinguished alumna of Syracuse University College of Law, she earned her law degree magna cum laude. During her time at Syracuse, she served as an executive editor of the Syracuse Law Review, was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Coif, and served for four semesters as a student attorney in the school’s Veterans Legal Clinic.  

She also completed an internship with the Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program in Washington, D.C. 

The Veterans Clinic at the University of Missouri School of Law is committed to providing high-quality legal services to veterans and their families, Becker’s addition to the team will further enhance the clinic’s mission.
