Free Legal Consultations for Veterans in Columbia

The University of Missouri School of Law Veterans Clinic will host a day of free legal consultations for veterans on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in Columbia, Missouri.

The event will take place at the Family Impact Center, located at 105 E. Ash Street, and is part of the clinic’s rural outreach initiative, Tigers for Troops. Through this program, the clinic works to expand access to legal services for veterans across Missouri, particularly in underserved areas.

Veterans who attend will have the opportunity to meet with law students and supervising attorneys at no cost to receive assistance with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability compensation claims, military discharge upgrades, and VA healthcare issues.

The event is hosted in partnership with the University of Missouri Extension Office, whose collaboration helps make this outreach possible.

Appointments are required to ensure availability. Veterans can register online or by calling the Veterans Clinic at (573) 882-3989.

Based at the University of Missouri School of Law, the Veterans Clinic provides free legal representation to veterans and their families. Since its founding in 2014, the clinic has secured more than $20 million in VA disability benefits for Missouri veterans and has assisted more than 2,100 individuals. Through its Tigers for Troops program, the clinic has reached nearly every county in the state.

Veterans seeking assistance are encouraged to register early to reserve a time.
