The University of Missouri School of Law Veterans Clinic, through its Tigers for Troops program, and in partnership with the University of Arkansas – Little Rock (UALR) Veterans Legal Services Clinic, is hosting a General Veteran Information Session discussing various topics, to include information about the PACT Act. This event will take place at Legal Services of Southern Missouri located at 809 N. Campbell Ave., Springfield, MO 65802 from 9:00-10:30 am. The event is the first partnership between the two clinics to serve veterans who reside in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas.
Immediately following the information session, both Veterans Clinics will be available to speak with veterans regarding United States Department of Veterans Affairs (“VA”) disability benefits, discharge upgrades, and VA healthcare.
Individual consultations are also available and can be scheduled here: https://bit.ly/VeteransClinicSpringfield2023 or by calling (573) 882-7630.
The Veterans Clinic is located in the University of Missouri’s School of Law. The Veterans Legal Services Clinic is located in the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law. Under the supervision of experienced attorneys, law students in both clinics help veterans, at no charge, with their claims in front of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Both veterans clinics also assist veterans in receiving discharge upgrades, help train attorneys to help veterans navigate the VA system, and contribute to amicus briefs and other advocacy projects in support of veterans. In addition, the University of Missouri Veterans Clinic holds annual symposia highlighting the stories of veterans and developments within veterans’ law.
The Tigers for Troops program was created by the University of Missouri Veterans Clinic to remedy unmet legal needs of rural veterans in Missouri. Under the program, the Clinic partners with Mizzou Extension to travel to rural parts of Missouri to reach veterans without access to veteran’s services.
