Veterans Clinic Staff Attorney Jessica Esguerra Sworn into Missouri Bar While Serving on Active Duty

The Veterans Clinic is proud to announce that Attorney Jessica Esguerra has officially been sworn in as a member of The Missouri Bar after successfully passing the February 2026 Missouri Bar Examination.

Jessica serves as a Staff Attorney with the Veterans Clinic and is also a Major in the Air National Guard. Shortly after taking and passing the bar exam, Major Esguerra was called to active duty with the United States Air Force and is currently serving our nation.

Because of her active-duty service obligations, she was unable to attend a traditional swearing-in ceremony in Missouri. Instead, she was sworn into the legal profession by Lieutenant General France, Commander of Ninth Air Force (Air Forces Central) at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, and the Combined Forces Air Component Commander for U.S. Central Command in Southwest Asia.

“Jessica represents the very best of public service,” said Clinic Director Brent Filbert. “As both a Staff Attorney in our Clinic and a Major in the United States Air Force, she has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving others. Passing the Missouri Bar Examination is a significant accomplishment on its own, but doing so while preparing for and answering a call to active duty speaks volumes about her character, dedication, and professionalism. We are incredibly proud of her achievement and grateful for her service to our country.”

Major Esguerra is a valued member of our team, and we remain proud to support her commitment to serving our nation while she is on active duty. We congratulate her on this well-earned achievement and look forward to welcoming her back to the Clinic following the completion of her active-duty service.
