Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic Staff Attorney Katie Becker served as Counsel of Record on an amicus brief recently filed with the Supreme Court of the United States in Soto v. United States. The brief was submitted on behalf of the National Law School Veterans Clinic Consortium (NLSVCC), a national coalition of law school legal clinics dedicated to serving veterans and their families, of which the Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic is a member. Staff Attorney Carter Brooks Templeton Argues Case in Federal Court
Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic attorney Carter Brooks Templeton argued the case of Ricky v. United States before the United States Court of Federal Claims on Thursday. The case centered around a veteran’s entitlement to combat related special compensation, or CRSC. The case, which addresses the Air Force Board of Correction for Military Records denial of CRSC to the veteran, has been a collaborative effort within the Clinic, with law students playing a key role in drafting the briefs under the supervision of Clinic faculty and attorneys. Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic Students Play Key Role in Briefing in Various Federal Courts
This semester, students in the Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic have played key roles in advocating for veterans before major courts. Two of the Clinic’s students, Rachel Elliot and Brady Hays, worked on cases in United States federal courts. Rachel Elliot, a law student at Mizzou Law who is part of the Advanced Veterans Clinic, recently authored and submitted a brief to the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
